Case Study
Lancaster University
In this chapter we would like to introduce a course developed by Lancaster University, which is entirely based on distance learning. This course is called "Networked Learning" and has been running for three years now. The students are from all over the world. They are teachers or trainers who want to make their own e-learning courses in the future.

'The module has two main aims. First it examines some of the key processes involved in creating and managing a networked learning service/environment. This includes some of the more complex design and development issues, but also pedagogical techniques for successful on-line teaching and CMC moderation. Secondly, it offers a chance to review some of the recent literature on networked learning, looking especially at learners' experiences of networked learning, learning outcomes, and effective and less effective organisational strategies.'
